In a world of AI-driven content, my hope is to give you the exact opposite. While we will talk about topics that you can throw into ChatGPT and get technically correct answers, my goal is to give you my perspective.

Financial Planning is Full of Grey Areas that can be debated in many different directions. Rent vs. Buy and Term vs. Whole Life Insurance come to mind.

I think it all depends on your specific financial situation and what you're looking to accomplish. This is where the fun happens. Having a conversation about your financial plan, income, plans for the future and helping guide someone to renting or buying that vacation home.

Once you get past the basics, have the income and balance sheet to justify these decisions. This is often where I find the most grey area that comes down to client preference and objectives.

There are many examples like this in financial planning, but I wanted to highlight these today.

If you have decisions like this in your life and want to have a second set of eyes on it, give me a shout.

Stop Overpaying for Plan Services:

While I am not a 401(k) expert, I work with one.

401 (k) plan fees vary widely. If it’s been more than 3 years since you’ve benchmarked your plan, there’s a good chance you’re overpaying. Our Fiduciary Plan Health Quiz is designed to help administrators quickly assess their retirement plan's effectiveness.

Paper Gains Newsletter by Matt Magee at mForce Capital This Tweet went viral recently and does such a great job explaining markets and investing. Except, they did NOTHING. I could talk about this for hours, but a few things jump out to me. The size of a position matters a lot, especially in volatile markets. Having...

Paper Gains Newsletter by Matt Magee at mForce Capital Is College Worth It? But we're asking the wrong question entirely about college. Instead of 'Is college worth it?' we should be asking 'Which parts of college are working, and what does that tell us about the future?' The math is brutal for most graduates. Boomers could trade 4 years of college for 40 years of middle-class security (more or less). Today's 25-year-old faces a negative net-present-value on that same deal. When the...
