I need to meet Kevin one day. I utilize his material often and agree with his philosophy of life.

Great reminders for us all, especially those on the climb.

This WSJ headline caught my attention. The whole rent vs buy argument gets a lot of headlines. FOMO buying your most expensive asset is usually never a good idea.

The article outlines many of the reasons renting is so appealing to so many. I have even started to see more 50+ empty nesters with plenty of assets to continue owning their large family house.

Continuing with the real estate theme. For those stuck with a low interest rate on their mortgage, there is potentially light at the end of the tunnel. My guess is it's not until next year that you see rates materially lower.

Paper Gains Show

What I've Enjoyed Recently

The Optimist about Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI/ Chat GPT)

Susan Li, the CFO of Meta on Glue Guys. Interesting career and cool to learn about the inner workings of a company that impacts us all daily.

This episode is more of a reminder for myself to eat less carbs and sugar. I do not have the discipline for a keto diet, but episodes like this make me consider it for a few hours.

Here is someone who has money figured out.

The Lone Star Perspective by Matt Magee at mForce Capital If you want to see a world-class logic error, look at how the most successful people in America handle their kids. These are people who built empires by delegating, mentoring, and allowing their VPs to make expensive mistakes. Yet, when it comes to their own families, they try to do something even more impossible: They try to run the family from the grave. They hire lawyers to build "Dead Hand Control." It’s a 100-page legal document,...

The Lone Star Perspective by Matt Magee at mForce Capital I have the pleasure of working with a diverse client base. Some are business owners or corporate executives clearing over $1 million annually. On paper, they've won. It's usually around the time they retire or sell a business. Something along these lines is said. "I have everything I thought I wanted. So why do I still feel like this?" Here's what I've learned: Your biggest financial obstacle isn't in your portfolio. It's in your head....

Why the bedrock of finance is shifting. From the $3.5B daily interest cost to the changing guard of global debt buyers, discover what the U.S. Treasury market's evolution means for your "safe" investments and retirement planning.

The Lone Star Perspective by Matt Magee at mForce Capital Treasury 101: Why the “Plumbing” of Global Finance is Changing We often talk about the U.S. Treasury market as the "bedrock" of the financial world. It is the gold standard for safety. But even a bedrock can shift. Recent data from Apollo Global Management highlights some massive changes in how the U.S. government borrows money and, more importantly, who is lending it to them. Here is a breakdown of what’s happening in "plain English"...
